CEREC/One-Visit Crowns

CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Austin, TX

If your teeth are damaged or decayed, dental crowns can often be used to preserve the functionality and appearance of your smile. Dental crowns are customized, tooth-shaped restorations that are placed over the visible portion of a damaged tooth or attached to a dental implant.

Traditional dental crowns often require multiple office visits, dental impressions of your teeth, and temporary fillings. At BridgeView Dental, we are proud to offer same-day crowns using the CEREC procedure to restore your smile in just one visit.

If you are interested in transforming your smile with the CEREC same-day crowns procedure, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Lance Loveless at (512) 347-8299. We are proud to provide patients in Austin, Round Rock, and nearby areas of Texas with effective dental care.

What Are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?

Once Dr. Loveless examines your smile and determines that you would benefit from crowns, they can be created and placed during the same visit. The CEREC system can take a detailed scan of your afflicted teeth and create customized ceramic restorations in just a few minutes. Advancements in CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) have allowed us to improve the dental restoration experience for our patients.

In addition to crowns, the CEREC system can also produce all-ceramic:

Benefits of CEREC Restorations

Getting a traditional dental crown often requires at least two dental appointments. At the first visit, an impression of your teeth is taken by biting down into a rubbery material to create a mold of your smile. A dental lab will use this mold to create your custom crowns, which may take several weeks. Temporary restorations will be placed on your teeth that you will need to wear until your crowns are ready to be placed at your second visit.

With the CEREC system, there is no need to take impressions, wear a temporary restoration, or return to the office just to have the crowns placed. Instead, the crowns are created and placed during the same visit.

Additional benefits of CEREC restorations include that they are:

  • Made of durable ceramic material
  • Metal-free
  • Natural looking
  • Long-lasting

"I cannot recommend BridgeView Dental enough. The entire team works hard to make sure each interaction and office visit is enjoyable. To start, I love that I can handle scheduling through text at my convenience. The office manager Xtine makes every communication easy, clear, and speedy. She is great at making sure I'm always informed, know my options, and works with my insurance so that I don't have to lift a finger. My office visits are always timely, I never have to wait, and I appreciate that BridgeView has the latest and greatest technology. Their hygienist, Joanna, is extremely knowledgeable and informative. She is thorough in her work and it's clear she always has my best interest at heart. Dr. Loveless has obviously invested in building an excellent team that takes pride in their work. In recent interactions with his dental assistant, Paulina, she was compassionate, patient, and highly engaged throughout a quite lengthy procedure. I've experienced nothing but top tier service from the entire BridgeView team, and could not be more pleased with my smile."

Am I a Candidate for Same-Day Crowns?

A dental examination and consultation with Dr. Loveless is a great way to determine your candidacy for same-day crowns. While same-day crowns are an excellent method of dental restoration, they may not be the right solution for everyone. You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you:

  • Need to protect a decayed tooth from breaking
  • Have a cracked tooth
  • Have a hole in your tooth that is too large for a filling
  • Want to restore a broken or severely worn tooth
  • Want to cover misshapen teeth
  • Want to cover severely discolored teeth

Additionally, Dr. Loveless may recommend same-day crowns to hold a dental bridge in place or to cover a dental implant.

What to Expect from the CEREC Procedure

Dr. Loveless will administer an anesthetic to minimize any potential discomfort during the procedure. Then he will prepare the surface of any damaged teeth for restoration. This may involve removing areas of decay or damaged amalgam fillings.

The CEREC 3D measuring camera will then scan each afflicted tooth. This generates a 3D image that will be used to create customized ceramic crowns. The crowns are carved out of a block of durable ceramic material by the CEREC unit in a matter of minutes. The crowns can then be permanently bonded into place, providing you with a long-lasting restoration.

Though the procedure only takes one visit, you should still return to our office for regular dental checkups. Proper oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits will help ensure the longevity of your ceramic crowns.
