Tooth Extraction in Austin TX

Your permanent teeth are meant to last a lifetime, but in the case of wisdom teeth, tooth removal is often the best form of treatment. At Loveless Dental & Facial Aesthetics, our professional team will do everything we can to make your extraction as simple and stress-free as possible. Ask us about our variety of sedation options to ensure your comfort. Decayed or damaged teeth can often be repaired to avoid extraction. However, sometimes teeth extractions are necessary to improve or maintain your dental health.

Common reasons for teeth extraction include:

Braces

If your teeth are too crowded to be easily aligned with braces, our dentist may recommend an extraction to help your teeth realign properly with orthodontic treatment.

Infection

While an infected tooth can usually be saved through root canal treatment, sometimes this treatment isn’t enough, and you’ll need a tooth extraction to prevent the spread of infection.

Advanced gum disease

If advanced gum disease (periodontitis) has caused your teeth to loosen, it may be necessary to remove the affected teeth.

Your wisdom teeth are impacted

Wisdom teeth can often remain trapped in your jawbone or gums. An impacted tooth is painful and can only be alleviated through extraction.

Your wisdom teeth come in at the wrong angle

Sometimes when your wisdom teeth erupt, they press against your other teeth. This pressure can chip, crack and even break the surrounding teeth.

Your mouth is too small

Your jaw has no room for the extra set of molars and becomes crowded, forcing your other teeth out of alignment

The Teeth Extraction Procedure

When we perform a teeth extraction procedure, our primary aim is to ensure your comfort and safety. The process usually starts with an initial consultation where we review your oral health history, conduct an examination, and take X-rays if necessary. This helps us to evaluate the complexity of the extraction and develop a personalized treatment plan.

On the day of the extraction, we’ll administer a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth or teeth to be extracted, ensuring you feel no pain during the procedure. For patients with anxiety or undergoing multiple extractions, we may also offer additional sedation options for optimal comfort.

Once the area is numb, we’ll use specialized dental tools to gently loosen the tooth in its socket. When the tooth is sufficiently loosened, we’ll carefully extract it. In some cases, particularly for impacted teeth or complex cases, we may need to remove the tooth in pieces.

After the tooth is removed, we’ll clean the area and place gauze to help control any bleeding and aid in the formation of a blood clot. This clot is important for healing, and we’ll give you specific aftercare instructions to ensure it stays intact.

Throughout this process, we continuously monitor your comfort and safety. We’re committed to providing you with a smooth, straightforward teeth extraction procedure, and we’re always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
