The American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Austin. The lawsuit is to fight against the numerous regulations that restrict dentists from advertising their AAID credentials.
The suit aims to alter a law that allows dentists to only advertise credentials that come from American Dental Association-approved organizations. Critics of the law claim that the AAID’s standards are just as rigorous as the ADA’s.
Similar suits have occurred in Florida and California. Both states determined that these restrictions violate both the first and fourteenth amendments.
