Benefits of sealants

Posted on December 15th, 2010 1 Comment

Sealants can offer a major protection against cavities.  Teeth may be covered with plaque, a sticky bacteria that can eventually cause cavities if you do not brush after eating.  Sealants can help protect your teeth from this harmful bacteria.

Sealants are a plastic material that are used to cover chewing surfaces  in the back of your mouth, act as a barrier to protect your enamel from plaque and bacteria.

Although it may seem that sealant is only beneficial for children and teenagers because pit decay often begins early in life, sealants can help people of all ages. Ask your dentist about sealants and put extra protection on your teeth.

  1. I, myself, believe that sealants are important and totally helpful in dental care. They stopped my teeth from damaging any further and protecting it from other chemicals or organisms that might damage it more. Just as long as you tooth was properly cleaned (meaning, no more cavities) before the sealant was placed, then everything would be okay.
